Rickley Junior School

School Car Park

Please remember that, in the interests of the children’s safety, the school car park is for the use of staff members only, both before school and at the end of the school day.

Children should not use the car park entrance to enter the school grounds (they should use the pedestrian gate).

Thank you for your co-operation in helping to make the school a safe environment for our children.

Please note:  We have been informed of incidents of theft from cars parked around the school while parents are dropping off or collecting children.  These incidents have generally occurred when items of interest or value have been left on seats and are clearly visible from the outside.  Please keep valuables with you or ensure they are stowed out of sight.

Breakfast and After School Clubs

Breakfast and After School Clubs for children attending either Rickley Junior or Rivers Infant Schools are provided, on the Rickley Junior School site, by Young Ones Limited

A few places are still available.  If you are interested in this service please contact Alana Young on 07939 088959.

New School

MK Council was finally notified by the Schools Adjudicator’s office on 19th January this year that the proposal to amalgamate Rickley Junior School and Rivers Infant School had been approved.

This means that Rickley Junior School will formally close on 31st August 2009 and will be replaced with a new community primary school with a designated nursery which will open on 1st September 2009.

The new school will initially operate from the two existing school sites whilst a new building is constructed. The new building is scheduled to open in January 2011 and will be built on our existing site.

A temporary Governing Body for the new school has been formed and has already held its first meeting.  A permanent Governing Body for the new school will be formed in the Autumn term 2009.  The key tasks of the Temporary Governing Body are:

· To determine the timescale and process for recruiting the headteacher for the new school

· To build and agree the vision and ethos for the new school

· With the headteacher to determine the staffing structure for the new school

· Decide the name of the new school

· Work with the Council on the design of the new building to ensure it is of high quality and meets the needs of the new school

Rickley Junior School has three representatives on the Temporary Governing Body:

Mrs Susan Marshall (Staff Governor)

Mrs Sally McClaren (Parent Governor)

Mrs Carolyn Giles (Community Governor)

All three representatives may be contacted via the school office.
