Literacy: We will be following the National Literacy Strategy. We will be studying a variety of stories involving issues and dilemmas. The children will then write their own adventure story based around a dilemma. Numeracy: We will be continuing to follow the National Numeracy Strategy. We will be developing our knowledge of numbers, securing our knowledge of the four number operations and applying this to solve word problems. We will also be undertaking a range of data handling activities and linking these with geographical enquiry and ICT. Science: Our science topics this term will be Keeping Warm and Habitats. We will be carrying out a number of investigations within these topics and looking at habitats within the school grounds. I.C.T. The children will be using data handling software to create bar charts, pie graphs and line graphs in order to present investigative work from other foundation subjects. Geography: In geography we will be following a unit on Improving our Environment which will involve investigating the immediate locality and identifying environmental issues and improvements. Part of the work will involve a walk around Rickley Park later in the term. Art: The children will undertake a variety of work relating to the topic of Poppies on the Hill. Design and Technology: The children will be designing and producing their own pop-up booklet relating to our science topic in habitats.
French & Music: We are fortunate enough to be joined by a teacher from the Milton Keynes Music Service for music lessons this term and by a French teacher from Lord Grey School. Music this term will focus on Samba Drumming. P.E. The children will continue to have two P.E. lessons per week, on Tuesdays and Fridays. Children will require suitable outdoor and indoor footwear and clothing (t-shirt and shorts) suitable for the weather conditions. The Tuesday lesson will be taught by a sports coach from Premier Sport. The `children will be participating in a variety of team ball games and skill activities. ON Fridays the children will be doing dance for the frist half of the term and gymnastics for the second half. Homework: Your children will continue to receive weekly homework. This will be set on a Wednesday and will be expected in on the following Monday. They will have numeracy, literacy, spelling and reading homework weekly.

History & R.E: Simone Lines will be teaching these subjects throughout the year group. Our history topic for this term will be Anglo-Saxons. The children will be learning about who the Anglo-Saxons were and what life was like in this time. Our R.E. topics for the term will be “What do we know about Jesus?” and “Why is Easter Important” |
