The School Building

Rickley Junior School

Rickley School was opened in 1959 as a combined infant and junior school. The school became a junior school 3 years later after the opening of local infant schools. Increased rolls during the early 1970’s saw a significant expansion of the school and in 1970 it became a Middle School catering for children from eight to twelve years of age. In 2005 it reverted back to a Junior School, with a 7-11 age range, as part of the changes to the ages of transfer in Milton Keynes.

The school buildings are set in attractive grounds with classrooms that are conveniently grouped according to the four year groups. Rooms are of a good size, often with the additional benefit of shared activity areas and individual toilets and cloakrooms. The school’s spacious facilities include a well-stocked library, a music room and a computer room.

The main hall serves as a central assembly space with adjacent changing facilities for boys and girls. A large dining hall accommodates children for their mid-day lunch.

There are two good-size hard surface playgrounds and a large playing field.
