Meals, Drinks and Snacks

Rickley Junior School

School Meals

Rickley School is able to offer a cooked meal at lunchtime to any child who wishes to take one.  The meals are provided by catering company SODEXHO.  Hot meals are available at a cost of £1.95 per day, packed lunches are also available for £2.00.

The children are provided with weekly menus.  Menu choices and full payment should be returned to school by the  Wednesday of the preceding week.

Some children are entitled to free school meals.  Some details are given on the MK Council web site.  Please contact the school office if you are not sure how to claim for these.

Packed Lunches

Children who wish to bring their own lunch to school may do so and eat their meal in the school dining hall.  Parents are asked to consider the balance and nutrition of their children’s lunch, which must sustain them through afternoon school.  We particularly ask that children do not bring sweets to school as part of their packed lunch.

For safety reasons, children who stay for lunch are not to leave the school premises during the lunch break without special permission.

Going Home for Lunch

Parents of children who go home at lunchtime should inform the school in writing.  Children who go home should return to school after 12.50pm.

There may be occasions when, for reasons of unsatisfactory behaviour, parents are asked to make their own arrangements for supervising their children at lunchtime.

Water

We encourage children to drink plenty of water during the school day.  There are a number of drinking fountains available for use by the children.  Children are able to take a water bottle (preferably plastic with a non-spill sports cap) with them in the classroom.  A water fountain is available in school for the children to re-fill these during the day.   We do not allow children to take juice into the classrooms.

Morning Breaktime

Children may bring a piece of fruit as a snack for the morning breaktime (Fruit only at this time please).  Fruit is also available from our Tuck Shop at this time.
