Rickley After School Project has operated since September 2002. The project provides good quality care facilities for parents of children attending Rickley School . From January 2007, the provision and running of the club has been taken over by Alana Young, the existing Play Leader, and will now be known as “Young Ones”. The school will continue to be involved in working with Alana and her staff in assisting her to provide these facilities. “Young Ones” has been registered with OFSTED, the regulating body for after school provision. This registration allows the project to be open to children under 8 years old, and so to be able to offer this facility to parents of children at Rivers Infant School as well.

The premises used by “Young Ones” are enviable. Attached to the main school building, they comprise a self-contained area with two large spaces, two smaller rooms and a kitchen area. The unit also has its own toilets. Access for parents to collect children is separate to the school and adjacent to the school car park. There is direct access for the children to a hard play area and sports field which are completely enclosed. |

The Breakfast Club provides breakfast and a calm environment, before the school day begins, for those parents who need to drop their children off at school earlier in the mornings. The club also provides an escorted service to Rivers Infant School if required. |

The aims of “Young Ones” are: · To provide the necessary facilities for the daily care and recreation of children outside of school hours and during school holidays. · To ensure a stimulating environment in which all children and their parents have confidence. · To support the parents of children at Rickley Junior and Rivers Infant Schools in enabling them to pursue employment opportunities for themselves. |
